Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Miso ("App", "Service", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Miso mobile app and website at misocookbook.com. By using Miso, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or Service.
Information we collect
Miso is a recipe cookbook. To provide the Service, we collect and store the following:
- Account information — email address, username, display name, and (when you sign in with Google) an avatar URL provided by the identity provider. Authentication is handled by Supabase; we store a linked account record on our servers.
- Recipe content — recipe names, descriptions, ingredients, steps, tags, timing, servings, original-author attribution, and source links you choose to save.
- Dish photos — optional photos you upload for a recipe. Photos are processed (resized and converted) and stored so they can be shown in the App and on public recipe pages.
- Technical logs — server request logs (such as method and path) and limited operational logs needed to run and debug the Service. These may incidentally include identifiers such as account email when authenticating or updating a profile.
- Device preferences — settings such as theme and cook mode are stored locally on your device and are not required for the core Service.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- create and maintain your account;
- save, sync, display, and share your recipes;
- show dish photos in the App and on public recipe pages;
- operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your recipes or photos for advertising.
Public recipes and photos
Every saved recipe currently has a public web page that anyone with the link can open, including people without a Miso account. That page may show the recipe content, your display name, attribution you added, and the dish photo if one was uploaded. Treat recipe content and photos as information you are comfortable making public.
Authentication and third-party services
Sign-in is provided through Supabase (email and Google OAuth). Google may process personal data according to its own policies when you use Google sign-in. See the Google Privacy Policy and Supabase Privacy Policy.
Dish photos are stored with cloud object storage (Amazon S3). Recipe and account data are stored in our database (PostgreSQL). Those providers process data as needed to host the Service under their respective terms and privacy policies.
If you download Miso from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, those platforms may collect usage and device information under their own policies: Google Play, Apple.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account, recipe, and photo data while your account is active and the content remains in the Service. If you delete a recipe you own, that recipe and its dish photo are removed from the Service. If you want your account and remaining data deleted, contact us using the details below and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Children's privacy
Miso is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Miso after changes means you accept the updated policy.
